Task Group: Parents’ / Carers’ Shadow Board
The Shadow Board considers the work of the Partnership for Children and Young People and the delivery of the Children and Young People's Plan in Nottingham. Its aim is to help improve services for children, young people and families in Nottingham.
Its membership of parents and carers, together with a small number of professionals working in relevant areas, is drawn from across Nottingham and it meets once per month to discuss issues raised by decision-making bodies which have particular importance for families. It provides both feedback on these issues and requests for new issues to be placed on the agenda of these bodies. It is chaired by a parent, Michael Briscoe, and attended by the Nottingham Parenting Strategy Manager, Jacqueline Lockhart. Representatives from the new Parents'/Carers' Forum attend to provide the perspective of families with a child with a disability.
The Shadow Board meets on Thursday evenings monthly from 5.00pm-7.00pm. Child-care can be provided and travel expenses paid for parents wishing to attend. Those wishing to find out more should contact :
